Library Activities

Library performs several activities as an integral part of the academic community. It helps library services and students or users to cop up with the social needs and future trends in society. Father of the Indian Library Science Dr. S.R. Ranganathan says “Right information at right time to the right user”. Library perform the activities such as –

  • Earn and learn scheme for economically backward college students.
  • Book Bank Scheme for Scholar and SC / ST students
  • Competitive Examination Guidance Centre” (Separate book issue section).
  • Reader’s Club.
  • Book exhibitions.
    • New arrival book list provides updates of Library collection.
    • Electronic Bibliography.
    • Budget allocation and expenditure.
    • Online staff/students issue provides details and statistics of reading.

Details of Library Activities / Schemes :

1. “Earn and Learn Scheme”
Is a social welfare scheme run by the college, providing the minimum employment for the economically poor college students to withstand at his/ her own while learning? The selection is made by a separate committee. This service has been started long before and will continue in future for the benefit of college students. Under this scheme, student has to work in library at least for 3 hours per day as per instructions and work allotment by the librarian. The daily attendance of the student is maintained in the library for honorarium purpose. Rs.500/- per month is allotted towards honorarium.

2. “Book Bank Scheme for SC /ST students / Scholar students”.
Books lead you from darkness to light”, library runs the university book bank scheme for the backward class students and at the same time works for “scholar book bank scheme”effectively. Students are provided with set of the required textbooks for full academic year and students are supposed to return the same set without fail within three days after final examination. Special college committee has been set up for this scheme to observe the students progress in academic matters and final report has to submit to the university every year.

3. “READER’S CLUB”
The objective of the readers club is to improve reading culture, reading habits, communication skill and general knowledge of college students. Members of the club shall meet once in a month to discuss/plan on various topics related to library utilization and programmes.
